Thompson Womens' Institute
The Women’s Institute was formed in 1915 with two clear aims: to revitalise rural communities and to encourage women to become more involved in producing food during the First World War.
Since then our aims have broadened and we are now the largest women’s organisation in the UK with 205,000 members in 6,500 WIs. Check out our national website for more information www.thewi.org.uk
| Here at Thompson we have a very active WI group which meets on
the second Tuesday of every month at the Village Hall 7.30pm.

| Every Summer we hold an evening fete which is open to all. Usually the weather is great and we spill out onto the green with our hot BBQ food and scrummy cakes. Click here to see our report of this year's event. | Not all our meetings are at Thompson - we do visit local attractions and places of interest. During the summer of 2008 we booked a special visit to the local Alpaca Farm in Carbrooke. They opened especially for us and delivered a very interesting talk on the life of an Alpaca. |
