Thompson Parish Council News
Warning issue after Hoax calls – don’t give out your bank details
Breckland Residents
are being warned not to give out their bank details to anyone who
telephones them claiming to be from Breckland Council calling about
bin collections, council tax or any other Council related matter.
If residents are
putting the wrong items in their recycle bins, they will be advised
of this by the Councils refuse contractors who will place a ticket
on the handle of the bin advising them of the correct items to put
in, fines are not issued to residents for putting the wrong things
in their bins.
Under no
circumstances should any resident hand over their bank details to
anybody claiming to be a Council official regarding such matters. If
a call is causing concern, residents are urged to ask to phone them
back, hang up and check with the authority.

Village phone box vandalised 6 panes of glass in our historic phone box were smashed on or about the 24 July. Such vandalism in our village is rare and it is a great disappointment. The matter was reported to the police and anybody who has further information to add, please contact our Parish Clerk in confidence. Thank you to the kind resident who tidied up the glass - such action is a wonderful contrast to the the mindless damage making. Fancy becoming a Webmaster?Do you have some website editing experience? We are looking for a new webmaster for our village website. If you are interested and have about an hour a week, then contact us to find out more. |
What's happening in Thompson this month
Tuesday morning coffee morning - open 1st & 3rd Tuesday every month at Village Hall
Our coffee mornings tie in with the Active Norfolk Thompson Walks. To find out more about these walks see ww.activenorfolk.org/fittogether
Don't forget the weekly regulars .......
Carpet Bowls every Monday evening from 7.30pm - If you fancy a game, or want to learn, why not join them. No equipment needed - it is all in the hall. Also, this is not exclusively for men - last time there was a Thompson club there were several women players who gave the men a good run for their money.
And Stitchers every Wednesday evening from 7pm both at the village hall - Novice meets experienced stitchers here - a great place to learn a craft and have a chat and laugh along the way.
